Nairobi–Mai Mahiu Road Shut Down Over Abnormal Load
In June, motorists on the busy Nairobi–Mai Mahiu Road were warned to expect traffic disruptions after an oversized load forced the closure of an entire lane.
According to a notice from the Motorist Association of Kenya, the wide load caused delays along the route and necessitated traffic diversions. The advisory, issued around 8:00 AM, explained that the load occupied the full width of one side of the road, leaving no space for oncoming vehicles.
As a result, certain sections of the road became impassable, particularly for motorists traveling from Mai Mahiu to Nairobi.
“Be informed that there is a total lane shutdown along Nairobi–Mai Mahiu Road due to a wide load that covers the width of the road, with no space allowing oncoming vehicles to pass,” the advisory stated.
