Among the MPs that Wetangula asked to take their seats are Kathiani MP Robert Mbui, Mogotio MP Reuben Kiborek, Kisii County Woman Representative Dorice Donya Toto Aburi, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Iaty MP William Kamket.
The seated MPs can also be heard shouting the names of their colleagues.
“Either take the nearest seat or freeze,” Wetangula said.
“You know very well that there is no seat reserved for you in this House because you are not in leadership so take any seat,” the Speaker told Embakasi South MP Julius Musili Mawathe of Wiper party.
Wetangula also asked Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje to lead by example and sit down. Mwenje is the National Assembly deputy minority whip.
Chaos Erupt Agin in Parliament
After a while, the Speaker managed to restore order and proceeded to make his communications.
However, chaos erupted when the Azimio MPs demanded the Speaker to give Junet Mohammed a chance to address the House.
The MPs started when Wetangula referred Owen Baya as the Deputy Majority Leader.

Calls for Wetangula to Step Down
Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo raised a point order demanding Wetangula to step aside and allow Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss Shollei to chair the debate over the House.
Millie said the Azimio Coalition has served the office of the speaker with the court ruling that Azimio side is the majority.
“I want to indicate that as the majority party whip of Azimio handed over to your office a copy of that decision of the High Court with a letter that we are giving our majority leaders as Junet Mohammed and Robert Mbui,” Millie said.
“The Court infer that because of the position you hold as speaker and leader of your party, it is not possible to be sure that you are fair, you are going to be conflicted when conducting the matters of this house. I humbly request to step down and mandate Shollei in discharging the function because of your conflict of interest.”
Notably, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah was absent from the House.
The scenes were similar in the Senate, where Azimio senators, led by ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, occupied the majority side of the House.

High Court Ruling
The High Court overturned Wetang’ula’s decision that declared Kenya Kwanza the majority party.
A three-judge bench ruled that Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance is the rightful majority in the National Assembly.
The court found that Wetang’ula violated the Constitution by reassigning 14 members from various Azimio parties to Kenya Kwanza in October 2022, making the ruling coalition the majority.
“By assigning Kenya Kwanza the 14 members from other parties without justification and declaring it the majority party, the Speaker violated the Constitution,” the court ruled.
