Chemelil Sugar Company has disbursed Sh7.9 million for cane harvesting and transportation for the week ending February 5, 2023.
The company’s interim Managing Director (MD), Jacqueline Kotonya said Sh1.4 million will be for harvesters and Sh6.4 million for transporters.
Payments to farmers, transporters, and harvesters will factor into arrears, she confirmed.

“During the course of this week ending 26th February, the company will pay farmers, cane transporters and harvesters’ outstanding payments for week ending 5th and 12th February 2023, including payment of their arrears,” said Kotonya.
The Chemelil MD further cautioned employees against information misleading them in matters company’s payment plans.
Kotonya said the operations of the company are continuing without any hiccup while assuring stakeholders that all is well according to a circular seen by The Kenya Times.
“We request our suppliers to continue supplying the factory with cane to sustain factory milling operations so as to maintain our sugar production levels and revenues to meet the expectations of our stakeholders,” she said.
