Shipping Company Maersk appointed Tito Okuku as its East African Managing Director, who will be responsible for all the company’s business across the region, including Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
Okuku, the former Managing Director of APM Terminal Kenya (Great Lake Ports), has over 25 years of leadership experience in logistics and supply chain, having successfully led teams and operations across multiple African markets.

Okuku noted that he was honored to rejoin Maersk and take on the new responsibility.

Tito Okuku Roles
Tito Okuku has been a prominent figure in the logistics and supply chain, and before his appointment as Managing Director at Maersk.
He served as the Managing Director for East Africa at DHL Supply Chain.
In this role, he was instrumental in advancing logistics and supply chain operations across the region.
Notably, he led initiatives such as the deployment of 25 Euro 5 biodiesel-powered trucks in partnership with Scania, aimed at enhancing road transport efficiency and supporting economic growth in East Africa.
Prior to his tenure at DHL, Okuku held the position of Managing Director at Great Lakes Ports Limited in 2014, affiliated with APM Terminals Kenya.

In this capacity, he focused on improving operational safety and efficiency within port logistics, emphasizing the importance of a clear vision for driver partners to ensure the safe and timely delivery of customer cargoes.

His appointment as the Managing Director for Maersk in East Africa is effective as of 5 May 2025.
