Prosecutors accused Mr. Bankman-Fried of conspiring with two others former FTX executives to donate tens of millions of dollars to influence US politicians to pass laws favorable to the company.
The said donations allegedly came from Mr. Bankman-Fried’s Alameda Research hedge fund and FTX customer funds were contributed through “straw” donors or with corporate funds, allowing him to evade contribution limits.
Bankman-Fried faces more than 100 years in prison if convicted.
