The family of the late Isaiah Cheluget, a former Provincial Commissioner (PC), issued a statement on the recent disputed land in Sogoo, Narok South.
In a press conference, the family has confirmed that they have held meetings with key government officials, including the PS for Lands, Narok Governor, and the Director for Settlements, all to find an amicable solution to the long-lasting land dispute.

This comes a day after Moses Kipkirui, who is said to be the son of the late Isiah Cheluget, said that he’ll file a petition against President Ruto’s statement concerning his father’s land, which has had long-lasting dispute.
During his recent development tour in Narok County a week ago, President William Ruto assured the residents of Sogoo trading centre that he has consulted the late Cheluget regarding the land acquisition to resettle over 13,000 squatters.

But on Friday, Kipkirui strongly disputed this assertion, arguing that his father died in 2017, making any consultation impossible. He also criticized the president for talking about the matter while the land is still in a legal battle over succession and ownership. He added that he had informed Godwin Kiletyen and Company to file an injunction against any dealings involving the land until all family members are involved.

Cheluget Family
However, the latest statement issued by the Cheluget family confirms that there was a meeting with the president’s representatives, the Land PS, and the Narok governor. In the press conference, the family confirmed that they are in agreement with the president’s statement in Sogoo, Narok South,
“Interestingly, our father, the late Isaiah Kiplangat Cheluget, had on several occasions reached out to the government, looking for a peaceful and amicable resolution. Sadly, he passed on before its actualization,” they stated.
The family also confirmed that all matters concerning succession, and the estate of their late father were conclusively settled at the High Court Kericho, and a confirmation of grant issued on 12/06/2018.
Former MCA Statement
On his part, former MCA of Sagamian Ward Wesley Koech accused Moses Kipkirui Cheluget of attempting to interfere with the negotiation.
Moses, according to Koech, had in 2017 filed a case in 2017 seeking to be recognized as a biological son of the late Isaiah Cheluget.
However, his petition was dismissed by the High Court, which declined to grant his request for DNA testing via exhumation, citing procedural and cultural grounds.
The former MCA in a statement added that Moses Kipkirui Cheluget is a stranger in this process and is not legally recognized as a beneficiary or administrator of the estate.
