Four youths, suspected to be members of an arrow-wielding gang have been arrested in Nakuru by Njoro Police officers.
The arrest which led to the police officers recovering 25 arrows, followed a probe after a photo of the suspects wielding crude weapons was shared on a popular social media platform on May 25.
The National Police Service (NPS) through a statement issued on Sunday, June 5 said, the suspects proudly paraded their crude weapons, without regard to security concerns in their neighborhoods.
The police statement further reported that the four suspects are in custody and the recovered arrows have been kept as exhibits.
According to the NPS, Njoro Sub-County Criminal Investigations Office is processing the 4 individuals for arraignment.
Likewise, the NPS called on the public to practice caution in social media usage to avoid spreading misinformation and disinformation.
“As we approach the General Elections, we urge the public to use social media platforms responsibly and to desist from acts that would trigger violence and other criminal activities in their neighborhoods,” NPS stated.
