Six police officers from the Kondoo police station in Uasin Gishu county were attacked by locals in their attempt to arrest an arson suspect.
According to police report, the officers led by Corporal Benjamin Makau had received tips on the whereabouts of the suspect by the name Stephen Limo. The six officers went to his home on Saturday, May 28 to apprehend him when his wife Grace Cherutich, raised an alarm, instigating locals to swarm the scene with crude weapons and stones.
The furious mob beat up these police officers before they managed to escape and were rushed to Burnt Forest Sub County Hospital for treatment where they were later released in good health.
As at now, the team of six including; Corporal Makau, Kasudi Towet, James Kirungi, Emmanuel Wanyonyi, Chacha Marwa, and Bernard Kesis, who all suffered injuries to their hands, shoulders, and teeth are recovering from the injuries.
Furthermore, a manhunt has been launched for the suspect, who went into hiding shortly after.
