Seven family members from Sagenya village Bomet County are receiving treatment at Longisa Referral hospital after consuming contaminated food.
The suspected contaminated food was mursik offered by their neighbor.
The mother and her six children were rushed to hospital after consuming soar milk.
The family was rushed to the hospital on Monday 10 October morning, after they started complaining of stomach pains and their condition worsened.
The neighbor who offered the ‘mursik’ did not complain of any stomach problems which led to an investigation to affirm the cause of the stomach pains.
Kyogong Location Chief Selina Kilel said she is yet to receive clear information from the hospital regarding the condition of the family.
“We are waiting for the information from the hospital on the exact cause of the problem because the affected family is claiming the problem started after they took the milk, but the other family says they too took the same milk and they are in good health”, the administrator said.
The chief further advised people to clean and cook food properly before consuming it, to avoid such cases of food poisoning.
