The gubernatorial candidate and former Kirinyaga Women Representative filed a petition on Wednesday seeking to nullify Waiguru’s win.
Ngirici’s legal team on Wednesday filed the case at Kirinyaga’s high court claiming to have obtained evidence that showed Waiguru’s win was manipulated.
According to the petition submitted, Ngirici sues the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission of tampering with the actual results.
The first, second and third respondents listed were the county returning officer Jane Gitonga, Anne Waiguru and her deputy governor elect David Wachira Githanda.
Anne Waiguru on 25th August 2022 was sworn in as the governor-Kirinyaga County and in her speech called upon all other leaders and rivals to work together.

“Kirinyaga is well known for being in a political mood throughout. I want to now challenge my competitors and the residents at large to put politics aside, roll our sleeves and get down to work. The constitution does not allow me to vie as governor in 2027, therefore the residents will decide who they will elect to succeed me.” Said Waiguru then.
According to the IEBC results tallied, Waiguru won with 113,088 votes followed by Ngirici with 105,667 votes, Charles Kiburi third with 22,065, Peter Gitau 10,166, Joseph Ndathi 3,937, Muriithi Kagai 1,751 and Chomba Ndanu 532 votes.
