The ongoing heavy rains in the country have damaged a section of the Kisumu-Nairobi railway line at Kobigori area in Muhoroni sub-county.
The damage on the line endangers the Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) weekly passenger and train services to Kisumu City.
Police report states that the base of one of the pillars of the railway bridge at Kibigori was swept away by the ravaging flood waters.
According to the report, the soil supporting the line under the bridge has also caved in.
