Amos, aged 30, is said to have stabbed his brother Moses Mwaura several times.
Irungu is said to have stormed his brother’s homestead, where he started throwing insults to the kids and wife.
According to Mwaura’s wife, Irungu went back to his house where he picked a panga intending to attack them.
The wife, Mercy Njeri said she ran out calling for help from neighbors and family who rescued her.
“I was feeding the children when he came in fuming with anger and started insulting us” she said.
“When I saw him coming with a panga, I ran out leaving the kids behind and he started chasing me around luckily I was saved,” she added.
Mercy went ahead to inform her husband of the occurrence who came immediately from a nearby Ihumbi shopping center,
The two brothers were involved in a physical fight for a while before the neighbors managed to separate them.
Amos killed his brother later that day when Mwaura was returning from the shopping center.
Amos who had been hiding in a coffee plantation ambushed Mwaura and stabbed him several times.
“We heard him pleading with the brother not to kill him, but this fell on deaf ears because we stabbed him several times cutting deep into his body,” Njeri said.

The mother, Alice Waithera, confirmed that it was not the first time Amos had tried to kill a family member. She blamed it on his alcohol and substance abuse.
“There was a time I found him trying to attack his father and I stood in between them, and he backed out,” she said.
