Thirdway Party leader, Ekuru Aukot wants President-elect William Ruto not to appoint political rejects to his cabinet
Aukot says it will be unwise for President Ruto to appoint candidates rejected by voters to his cabinet.
In a statement on Twitter, Aukot said Ruto should not even appoint them as ambassadors simply because they were loyal to him.
Aukot insists that the President-elect should hire people to his cabinet on account of competence and not political loyalty
He called on Ruto to be different and break the routine of same people holding the offices in every other government.
“To President Elect H.E William Ruto. I urge you not to appoint people rejected by voters on the ballot to cabinet and ambassadors. Don’t hire people just because they are loyalists hire competence and skills break the culture of recycling. Good luck Mr President,” he said.
Aukot wanted to contest for presidency in 2022 but was not cleared by the IEB after failing to meet all requirements.
A good number of leaders who lost in the just concluded election will be hoping to and positions in government including Cabinet appointments.
In past regimes, political losers have landed lucrative appointments as Ambassadors, Cabinet Ministers and permanent secretaries.
