A female employee at a Chicken Inn fast food restaurant in Kitengela, Kenya, was tragically killed on Friday night after being stabbed by a male colleague. According to witnesses, the man, who was not on duty then, entered the restaurant and stabbed the woman multiple times with a knife.
The incident occurred around 8:30 pm at the busy Chicken Inn next to a petrol station, and witnesses reported hearing screams and commotion.
Although the motive for the attack is unclear, police at the scene suspected a love triangle may have been the reason. One police officer said, “The assailant has been off duty, but he showed up and attacked the woman, and the colleagues claim the two were lovers.” However, some witnesses have claimed that the man attacked the woman after discovering she was cheating.

The incident drew a crowd of onlookers, who then attacked the suspect before police arrived on the scene. The man, who sustained severe injuries from the mob beating, was rescued by the police and taken to Kitengela Sub County Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the victim’s body was moved to the pending mortuary investigation as the scene was closed for cleaning.
Unfortunately, this is not the first mob justice in Kenya. Just a day after the Chicken Inn incident, a suspected thief narrowly escaped being lynched by an angry mob in Athi River after allegedly being caught stealing maize from a roadside plantation.
Police have discouraged mob lynching and have urged members of the public to surrender suspects to the authorities instead. The incident has left the community in shock, and investigations into the tragic death of the Chicken Inn employee are ongoing.
