Inspector-General of Police Hilary Mutyambai was on Thursday discharged from hospital.
Mutyambai was admitted to the hospital after he collapsed in his Karen house.
Doctors at the Aga Khan Hospital said the IG had pressure in his brain that caused the collapse.
The police boss spent three days at the High Dependence Unit before being moved to a normal ward.
Doctors at the Aga Khan Hospital said Mutyambai will now be under home-based care.
Doctors handling him said his pressure is stabilizing and he is responding well to medication.
Acting Inspector General Noor Gabow, is among those who have been visiting Mutyambai in hospital.
On August 26, Mutyambai took a medical leave and delegated his duties to Gabow.
“This is to inform the general public that I will be away from the office attending to a medical checkup effective today, 26th August 2022,” he said in a statement.
“In my absence, Mr Noor Gabow, the Deputy Inspector General – Administration Police Service, will act as the Inspector General of the National Police Service until my return.”
In 2020, Mutyambai also took a short medical leave and delegated his duties to his deputy Edward Mbugua.
