A 13-year-old son of North Eastern police chief Patrick King’ori Macharia died after shooting himself with his father’s pistol.
According to police, the 13-year-old boy allegedly took a Jericho pistol from a table at his father’s Ruai home before locking himself inside his bedroom.
Macharia, who is based in the North Eastern Region, claims that while he and his wife were talking after he excused himself to use the restroom, they heard a gunshot coming from his son’s bedroom.
The police chief reportedly found that his son had shot himself in the left side of the head with the bullet exiting from the right after breaking down the door, according to the police report.

The deceased’s body was moved to the Kenyatta National Hospital Mortuary pending an autopsy.
Police also seized the gun in question along with 29 rounds of ammunition and one spent cartridge
Investigations into the incident have been launched .
