Former Manga MCA Enock Okero has been elected Nyamira County Assembly speaker.
Enock Okero decided to vie for the speaker of the County Assembly seat after losing the MCA seat to Samuel Ogeto during the August general elections.
The Nyamira County Assembly speaker’s election was held on Monday, September 19.
Okero emerged as the winner with 26 votes against the former county speaker Moffat Teya who got 9 votes.
The MCAs are expected to elect their leader of majority, leader of minority, and chief whip.
In his acceptance speech, Okera urged all the elected leaders in Nyamira County to work together toward building a successful county.
Okera further advised the elected MCAs to work diligently for the people who voted for them.
“We know as residents of Nyamira, this county needs all of us to come together and make it an admirable place,” the new speaker said.
