Siaya County Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leadership has expelled deputy governor William Oduol
William Oduol has been accused of allegedly associating with the UDA party and undermining the efforts of ODM party that appointed him to perform his duties in Siaya County.
The decision to expel the Siaya deputy governor came after the party members held a delegate’s meeting in which Siaya’s Organizing Secretary Walter Okello stated that the party resolved to expel Oduol over disloyalty.
“This meeting has unanimously resolved that the Siaya County Deputy Governor be compelled to resign from his position since he no longer subscribes to the ideals and aspirations of the party. The meeting has resolved that he be expelled, and is hereby expelled,” read part of the statement from the party.

In the meeting, members of the ODM party also resolved to fill the positions within the party that were left vacant by those who to UDA.
Moreover, the decision to expel Oduol follows a directive from ODM’s Secretary for Political Affairs Opiyo Wandayi, who has earlier on asked the Siaya deputy governor to resign over his ‘evidently toxic relationship’ with Governor James Orengo.
According to Wandayi, the tension between the two leaders may interfere with proper functioning of the county as well as the quality-of-service delivery.
“Hon. Oduol should tender his resignation without any further delay. This would then create room for Hon. Orengo to appoint a replacement with whom he can harmoniously steer the County Government of Siaya,” he said.
