Police in Chelilis area, Bureti in Bomet County are holding in custody a head teacher accused of preying on learners.
This is after angry parents and residents stormed Chelilis Primary School and found him in a compromising position with his former pupil who is currently a high school student.
“We got wind of information regarding his uncouth behaviour. To confirm our fears, we walked in on him with his former pupil who is now a high school student,” a resident told a local daily.
Parents said they have been following leads after receiving disturbing accounts of the headteacher’s misconduct.
“He is said to prey on girls in upper classes and those in nearby secondary schools,” a distraught parent said.
The residents are now calling on the Teachers Service Commission to take action against the teacher.
“We will block him from accessing this school. We can not allow such behaviour in our community,” another parent added.
Bureti OCPD Peter Isanda confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
“We are questioning the student as well. The suspect is currently being held at Litein police station,” Isanda noted.
He added that the two have since been subjected to medical examination at Kapkatet Hospital pending further investigations.
