A postmortem report on the body of a principle, Mr. Wafula, found in the river Nzoia last Friday has been found with traces of poison.
According to a police report Mr. Isaac Wafula Bukhebi , a principal of Bosto Mixed Secondary School told his wife he was headed to the shopping center to buy airtime, which was the last time he was seen. Mr. Wafula was later found dead after he was reported missing on September 13.
The postmortem report from Kitale County referral hospital mortuary showed Mr. Wafula had consumed poison, or food with poisonous content.
The wife of the late principal together with family and friends searched for him and posted photos on social media to notify others of his disappearance.
According to the police report filed by his wife, Lilian Khausa , Mr. Wafula claimed to have been going to get airtime, yet he left both his phones behind, where he had deleted all messages.
“If he went to purchase airtime, why did he leave the phones behind? Why did he delete messages before switching off the phones? The next thing, he was found in the river,” Mrs. Wesonga said
On Friday, September 16, at around 7am, his body was discovered by sand harvesters on the banks of River Nzoia
The body was taken to the Kitale Referral hospital mortuary where a postmortem was conducted.
The Kiminini sub-county police stated that the deceased had marks on his body, from hitting himself on the stoned river, and the report by the mortuary showed Mr. Wafula was either poisoned or he poisoned himself.
“The presence of food poison clearly points to the fact that the deceased could have been poisoned or poisoned himself. The marks on his body could also be as a result of hitting himself on stones in the river,”
Leaders and teachers condoled with the family and friends of the late principal, saying the teaching fraternity had lost a distinguished leader.
