A security guard at St Francis Waigiri Day mixed secondary school in Kerugoya, Kirinyaga County, was found murdered within the school compound.
Kirinyaga Central sub-county Police commander Stephen Mutua confirmed the gruesome incident.
The deceased identified as Mr. Peterson Karimi 60, was found lying dead inside the school kitchen.
“The body had deep cut wounds specifically on the head, and there was blood strewn all over the school kitchen,” Mutua said.
Moreover, the police commander, further reported that the security guard who seemed to have been killed using a sharp object was also found tied on both hands and legs with a sisal rope, and clothes stuffed in his mouth.
In addition, the perpetrators are alleged to have made away with some of the school equipment.
“These people broke into the school administration block and stole two computers and a printer, plus some Ksh 27,000 was found missing from the cash box,” noted Mutua.
Likewise, the family of the deceased have asked the police to conduct speedy investigations to identify who killed their kin.
Furthermore, detectives from Kerugoya police station have launched probe into the incident, and have urged residents to volunteer any information they may have that will help in arresting the suspects.

The body of the deceased was moved to Kerugoya hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
