Among the stars whose love stories unraveled in the unforgiving spotlight were Lupita Nyong’o and Masekela, whose connection had been the envy of many.
The announcement of their separation echoed through the echelons of Hollywood, leaving fans and onlookers grappling with the abrupt end of a seemingly unbreakable bond.
Celebrities Separations
Lupita Nyongo and Boyfriend
Hollywood star Lupita Nyong’o announced her painful relationship breakup with American Television host Selema Masekela.
While making the announcement in mid-October the celebrated Kenyan Actress published a long post on her Instagram account giving reasons for the painful split.
“At this moment, it is necessary for me to share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust,” read part of her post.
While publicly dissociating herself with Masekela, Lupita hinted deception as cause of the split between her and his 52-year-old boyfriend.
The duo first came to limelight in December 2022 when Lupita shared their cute video montage.
In the video, set to the song The King’s Affirmation, the couple was snapping along while changing into various outfits, from swimwear to formal attire.
“We just click!” wrote Lupita. Selema also shared a post describing the award-winning actress as his ‘whole and actual love.”
Brown Mauzo and Vera Sidika
Musician Brown Mauzo in August announced the breakup with his wife and baby mama Vera Sidika.

In a public announcement shared on his socials, Mauzo said that they decided to part ways, a decision he says was best for them and their two kids.
“Dear friends and supporters, I wanted to take a moment to share some personal news. After much consideration, Vera Sidika and I have decided to part ways,” read part of Mauzo’s statement.
The duo who had been featured in a show dubbed Housewives of Nairobi, had shared quite a chunk of their love life on the reality show.
Likewise, their union was blessed with two babies Asia Brown and Ice Brown.
“Our journey together has been filled with unforgettable moments, but we have reached a point where it’s best for both of us and our babies, Asia Brown and Ice Brown, to move forward separately,” Brown Mauzo said.
However, socialite Vera Sidika seemed unbothered with the split as she flew out of the Country hours after the husband announced that they are no longer a couple.
The mother of two further shared photos while in a plane with a caption that says, “Catch flights, not feelings. Guess my next Stop.”
Few weeks after their split Brown Mauzo announced his new relationship with celebrity and musician Otile Brown’s ex-girlfriend.
Vera who had previously dated Otile Brown did not comment on the new relationship.
Akothee and Swiss Boyfriend
Esther Akoth alias Akothee announced her split with Muzungu boyfriend just five months after their grand wedding in April.
The grand wedding with a budget of Ksh 20 million saw the who is who in the country attend including Ida Odinga among other notable politicians.
Esther Akoth Kokeyo revealed the reason behind her separation with Omosh barely a month after confirming that they were no longer an item.
The mother of five while on a live TikTok confirmed the breakup happened during their honeymoon in June.
While sharing the details of the silent separation, she told her fans that he cannot stand a toxic relationship.
Kate Actress and Director Phil
Kenyan thespian Catherine Kamau alias Kate Actress and Ex Partner Director Philip Karanja alias Phil announced their separation early September.

The duo in a joint statement to their fans announced the divorce after several years of marriage.
Further, the celebrity couple said that they had parted ways a while ago and asked for privacy for the sake of their children.
“We came to a conclusion to end our marriage a long while ago and are separated. We sincerely request everyone to honor our wishes for privacy for us and our children,” they said.
However, the celebrity duo maintained that they are still friends.

Content creator Georgina Njenga addressed rumors on their alleged breakup with her baby daddy in July.
Georgina said that she is no longer dating former Machachari actor Tyler Mbaya alias Baha.
In a Question-and-Answer session via her Insta-stories, curious fans sought to find out if the two are still together as a couple.
However, in her response Georgina replied, “A lot of you guys are asking this question. This is the last time am gonna answer. We broke up and I’m in a new relationship with my new man.”
