The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission confirmed that they had received 99.84% of Forms 34A as of 12:30pm Thursday, August 11.
While giving the electoral body’s status update, Wafula Chebukati, explained that the number means, a total of 46,156 polling stations have submitted their forms 34A from 46,229.
Chebukati further assured Kenyans that the process is ongoing and they shall issue a report on their progress to the public by end of the day.
Moreover, while addressing the issue where the polling stations that voted manually managed to submit their forms 34A through the digital platform, KEIMS kit, Chebukati stated that that IEBC has received all results from the regions apart from two constituencies.
Chebukati further explained that a number of KEIMS kits were deployed to the specific polling stations to allow them to take photos of the copies and transmit them electronically to the IEBC epicentre at the Bomas of Kenya.
“Where manual voting was largely conducted. KEIMS kits were deployed to those areas for transmission. They have all transmitted their Forms 34A except two in Malava constituency,” he said.
Likewise, IEBC allowed154 polling stations in Kakamega County to use the manual register as well as 84 in Makueni county.
The electoral body cited irreparable problems with the KEIMS kits provided in the stations.
Nonetheless, Chebukati added that most returning officers from the county polling stations have arrived at Bomas.
The returning officers are expected to physically deliver the Forms 34A and 34B where verification of the results shall commence.
Furthermore, the IEBC chairman exuded confidence that the exercise shall be finalized by latest tomorrow.
