Azimio coalition candidates have registered exemplary results in elections that were held on August 29 in eight areas.
Wiper Party’s David Mwalika has retained his Kitui rural MP seat
Mwalika defeated UDA’s Charles Nyamai by garnering 19,735 votes against 10,178.
The total vote cast was 33, 089 out of 55,000 registered voters, a turnout of 54.7 per cent.
In Rongai constituency in Nakuru, UDA’s Paul Chebor trounced Raymond Moi of KANU by garnering 27,021 votes while Raymond got 14,725. Luka Kigen of Chama Cha Mashinani garnered 593 votes.
Moi has served as MP for two terms
In Pokot South constituency, Kenya Union Party’s David Pkosing successfully defended his seat after he garnered 28,225 votes, while UDA candidate Simon Kalekem came second with 15,298 votes.
Independent candidate James Lopoyetum got 2,677 votes.
Out of the 58,409 registered voters in Pokot South, 46,200 (79.10 per cent) cast their ballots.
Titus Lotee of Kenya Union Party (KUP) won the Kacheliba parliamentary seat in West Pokot County.
Lotee defeated the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Mark Lomunokol, who ran on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party.
Lotee got 20,073 votes against Lomunokol’s 17,963 votes.
KANU’s John Lokitare came third with 1,346 votes.
The outgoing Kacheliba MP, Mark Lomunokol, has served between 2013 and 2022.
In the two gubernatorial election races in Mombasa and Kakamega , ODM candidates Abdul Swamad Sharrif and Fernandes Barasa are headed for wins as voting tallying nears completion.
