IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati during a breakfast meeting on Thursday, July 7 denied allegations that the electoral body is scheming with a specific political team to rig elections.
Moreover, Chebukati reported that IEBC is an independent body with the commitment to exercise fairness in the electoral process.
“We do our work without fear or favor, in accordance with the law, we are not directed by any individual, authority or institution. We are answerable only to the constitution, the law of the land, regulations and policies,” he stated.
Furthermore, Chebukati dismissed media reports linking the commission to Kenya Kwanza Alliance. He said the reports are false and are meant to misinform Kenyans.
“Let us stop misinforming Kenyans, let us work together to have a peaceful election,” he said.

In addition, the IEBC Chairman’s remarks come following Raila Odinga’s statements accusing him of plotting with Kenya Kwanza outfit to stuff ballot boxes on August 9 polls.
During a rally in Kiambu County on Wednesday, July 6, Raila mentioned that: “We know they wanted to put 10,000 polling stations where they can only get like 200 votes… so as to get 2 million extra votes.”
The Azimio One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate further reiterated the need to have a manual voter register used during the polls alongside the electronic register.
“We must have a manual register along with biometric identification of the voters on that polling day, without which there will be no election,” Raila said.
