Kenya Kwanza Presidential flag bearer, DP William Ruto confirmed he will take part in the presidential debate scheduled for Tuesday, July 26.
The presidential debate will take place at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA).
Moreover, DP William Ruto will have a face-off with his main competitor, Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
Ruto’s attendance was confirmed on Thursday, July 21 by his presidential secretariat during a press conference.
Likewise, the secretariat added that the deputy president is expected to highlight key issues affecting Kenyans during the debate.
“I confirm that Ruto will attend the debate and in the 1hr and 30 mins we should be given details on the slated time for debating issues facing Kenyans,” Director of Communication at the Secretariat stated.
The deputy president had earlier on threatened not to attend the presidential debate, accusing a section of the media for being bias.

William Ruto stated that the media showed biasness in the coverage of political campaigns against him and his team as opposed to his opponents.
Furthermore, the deputy president went ahead and gave ultimatums for his attendance, stating that the media has to reassure him and his team of their commitment to holding fair coverage to all candidates.
“We expect the media to play their rightful role in cultivating a health, robust and inclusive discourse. Our democracy depends on the media to make our political environment less divisive and less toxic.” A statement from the UDA communications director read at the time.
The presidential debate is set to include; Kenya Kwanza’s DP Ruto, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya’s Raila Odinga, Roots Party flagbearer George Wajackoyah, and David Mwaure Waihiga of the Agano Party.
