The race to deputize Azimio la Umoja One Kenya alliance party presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga ahead of the August 9 elections just got more exciting, with one more aspirant showing interest.
Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya, while speaking in Tigania West, Meru County, on Friday, May 6, said he wants to be considered for the post, claiming he has what it takes to be Raila’s running mate. Moreover, he stated that he has vast experience working with President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, with whom he shares a cordial relationship.
“Raila Odinga hana hiyo ya kuincite watu na kuharibia watu wengine mabiashara yao, ama mashamba, and we’re also there to look after and work with him,” said the CS.
Furthermore, EALA MP Mpuri Aburi supported the CS on the issue, adding that the Meru community stands with CS Munya in his bid to be Mr. Odinga’s running mate come August 9.
“Uhuru and Raila sat down and decided that Munya would not resign his cabinet position. We, as the Meru community, planned that number one in the community will be number one as the running mate of Odinga,” Mpuri noted.
These statements come barely a day since Azimio announced an eight-nominee list highlighting names of contenders in line to deputize Raila. The CS missed out on the list.
