The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that the official voter register will be gazetted on or before June 9.
This is due to the voter verification process, allowing eligible voters to confirm their information, expiring on June 2.
IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati while addressing the press on Thursday, June 2 at the Bomas of Kenya said that there had not been any breach in the registration data, hence, voters will review the publication once it is made public.
“I want to assure Kenyans that their data is safe, no data has been lost and will be lost, there has been no breach or any form of interference with the register which is under audit, then we shall have a final register on or before 9th,” Chebukati stated.
The IEBC Chairman further reported that the commission will combine talks and reviews with KPMG, an audit firm, to ensure a transparent election process for Kenyans.
Moreover, citizens who have problems with their data are advised to make a claim with valid identity card or passport to the Registration Officer at any IEBC office across the country before the verification period ends.
Likewise, registered voters can also verify their information by sending an SMS to 70000 or by visiting the IEBC website portal.
