Azimio la Umoja One Kenya running mate Martha Karua has asked the Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to explain to the nation the state of their preparedness concerning the August,9 General Election.
While speaking to a group of civil societies in Nairobi on Friday, May 27, Karua confirmed her commitment to ensuring the government remains accountable to its citizens if Azimio la Umoja clinches power come August, 9.
The Narc Kenya leader further stated that the commission should inform them on how they have dealt with issues which led to the 2017 presidential elections being nullified, adding that it would be wrong to go into another election with those issues not addressed.
“We should be briefed on how they intend to conduct the elections, the tools they intend to employ and most of all one question, how has IEBC addressed the shortfalls that made the court nullify a presidential election,” she stated.
Moreover, Karua noted that having good and transparent governance will motivate citizens to protect their country.
She said Azimio’s governance, would strengthen the institutions to be of service to the people, adding that in her leadership, the civil society would be free to offer criticism and keep the government in check in its service to the people.
At the same time, the Narc Kenya boss warned the electoral officers against being accomplices to electoral fraud.
“We are now building this electoral system. All those who are going to be engaged in the elections, kindly love your country enough to do the right thing,” Karua said.
