Renowned musician and businesswoman Esther Akoth popularly known as Akothee has requested Kenyans to give her a break as she puts her house in order.
In a social media post, the businesswoman revealed what transpired in her life that resulted to her being off duty for three weeks. Akothee noted that she has not been fine since the golf tournament that was held on April 27, 2024.
“Please leave me alone for now. I don’t have the energy to help or attend to anyone. Since the golf tournament, I have not been myself. I was emotionally damaged and spent three weeks off duty trying to recollect myself,”
Her plea followed the arrest of Felix, a 22-year-old she took in, who was detained on allegations of defilement.
Felix’s mother reached out to Akothee for assistance, emphasizing that to err is human and requested her to speak to the authorities to secure her son’s release.
She lamented that Felix was her only child who helped put food on her table adding that she does not know anyone in Mombasa who could help her.
Woman Pleads with Akothee
“To err is human, Akothee what do I do? My child is the one I send, the one that cooks for me and finds me everything, he is the one I’m left with, he’s the one that pays rent. You left with my child just because of work. Akothee, if it’s not too much to ask, please go to Mombasa, go to Felo in jail, Akothee, I don’t know anyone there neither the place, please fix this issue, please return him to me, I beg you. Go to the bosses there and speak to them so this issue can be fixed,” she lamented.

Additionally, she implored her to solve Felix’s issue as they were very poor people without a breadwinner.
“It would be so painful if you support other people’s children but one got into a mess or got sick, won’t you take them to hospital? Akothee go to Felo wherever he is, I beg you.
“I am just a woman living in a rented plot, Felix is a child with no father, he has no one to fight for him. He is a very poor person, he has no money, work or house. We just live in a rented house. It is instability that caused my child to come with you,” she added.
Akothee Reveals Her Troubles
Akothee revealed how her children were deeply affected after witnessing an argument with the father of one of her son’s. She narrated that her son almost missed his flight back to France due to a delay at the hairdresser, which led to the man shouting at her.
“My son was delayed at the ahirdresser and almost missed his flight back to France, which led to a huge argument between his father and me. My children left feeling broken amidst the argument, with the old man shouting at me like a small child,” Akothee wrote.
She also spoke about the limited time she had with one of her daughters who travelled with her fiancé from overseas to spend time with her but only saw her for two days.
“My daughter came with her fiancé, and they saw me for only two days before she left in tears,”
Additionally, she expressed her feelings about returning to an empty home with only her dogs after her partner and two daughters left for Nairobi.
“I returned to an empty home with only my dogs after Nelly & my girls left for Nairobi,” she said
To add on to her worries, the musician narrates that school opened abruptly and had to ensure all her sponsored students reported to school with shopping and all requirements.

“Schools opened abruptly, and I had to manage the school from here while also ensuring my sponsored students were sent to different secondary schools, managing their shopping,” she said.
It is amidst this rush that Akothee notes she received a call about Felix’s arrest.
“I received a call that Felix had been arrested over allegations of defilement, this took another turn when I tried to investigate. I realized the matter was bigger than me, I therefore distanced myself with the situation to attend to my other parental duties,” stated Akothee.
