Madonna Louise Ciccone is an American singer-songwriter and actress. Dubbed the “Queen of Pop,.” Her Instagram was flooded with hateful comments after her most recent appearance at the 65th Grammy Awards.
She has fired back at the critics through her latest Instagram post. The award-winning singer complained about her “being caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny that permeates the world we live in.” This came after a close-up photo of her face went viral and caused a stir, attracting negative comments on her appearance.
The said image was taken when the singer introduced Sam Smith and Kim Petras’s performance of Unholy. Sam, who identifies as non-binary, and Kim was the world’s first openly transgender woman to perform at the event. In her words, it was a “history-making moment.” she went on to say,” instead of focusing on what I said in my speech about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim- many people chose only to talk about close-up photos of me taken with a long lens camera by a press photographer that would distort anyone face!”

In her opinion, the world adamantly “refuses to celebrate women past the age of 45” However, this is not the first time she has faced backlash over her appearance. The 64-year-old has been on the receiving end over her alleged cosmetics enhancement. One thing is for sure; she has refused to be deterred by people’s opinions over the years. “I have never apologized for any of the creative choices I have made for the way that I look or dress, and I’m not going to start,” she wrote in her post. “I have been degraded by the media since the beginning of my career, but I understand that this is all a test and I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come.”
