Former Gengetone singer Miracle Baby has predicted the failure of Gengetone music even as it tries to regain its lost glory this year.
According to the singer, the music will not survive despite its attempts if it does not begin to sing about important issues.

He added that the audience that once enjoyed the genre of music has since matured and would want more inspiring and meaningful songs as opposed to sexualized content.
Why Gengetone will not survive
“Gengetone will not survive again this year. We cannot live in one place and if we do not come up with a new strategy, then we are not going to make any progress,” stated the singer.

“Those that we used to sing for then have now matured, they are probably looking for a job and may need music that inspires them and gives them hope,” added the musician.

He also stated that he has decided to focus on a different genre of music away from Gengetone.
“I now want to focus on Mugiithi and if I am yet to do the other kind of music, I would not do Genge. I would do music that people would listen to and music that is impactful,” stated Miracle Baby.
Miracle Baby whose real name is Peter Mwangi, is a former member of the Gengetone music band Sailors Gang’. The band swept off the music industry in 2017 with the introduction of a new genre of music.

The group released several hit songs including Wamlambez, Pekejeng, and Wakiritho featuring Octopizzo. The trio however split in 2021
The genre however turned out to be a passing cloud as the genre was quickly overtaken by Arbantone. Part of the reasons that led to its death included its repetitive beats, lyrics, and sexualized content.

Peter began working on Mugiithi in 2020 together with his ex-girlfriend Carol Katrue. The couple released hit songs back to back most of which were born out of their personal life experiences.
Peter had however quit secular music and became a pastor, shortly after being healed from a life-threatening condition. He however went back to his secular life shortly after.
