Celebrity beautician Mwende Fray, who’s all-female Kinyozi business took Twitter by storm, has now moved to make her clients even happier, eliciting mixed reactions online.
Mwende, in an interview with Citizen Digital, said that her crew consists of an all-female crew and that has been one of her biggest secrets of success in the male-dominated field.
“Men come here because they are tired of the usual political talk and sports gibberish they find in the regular Kinyozi. The modern Nairobi man is past that kind of outdated Kinyozi talk and simply wants a smooth shave, while he’s buried in his phone or just engaging in a wider range of topics with the soft-spoken female barbers, ” she said.
Now, the sassy entrepreneur has moved to further ensnare the menfolk by introducing free fuel to her clients in a one-week marathon deal that sees the client enjoy a myriad of services all under one roof.
Until November 2nd, Mwende’s Man’s Chambers Kinyozi shall be offering a one litre fuel voucher alongside services and freebies such as a full 80 minute body massage, a complimentary drink of one’s choice, a facial, a hair cut (obviously) and a manicure.
Mwende recently revamped her barbershop by hiring brand new staff, bringing in new equipment, introducing a bar area and expanding the space.
“As business moves, we decided to be a little creative with our services and that’s why we decided to bring in new staff and also, for the first time in Kenya, include a fully-stocked in-house mini bar where clients can sip a drink as they enjoy a shave. And to be honest, since we introduced that service, the reaction has been crazy, ” Mwende says.

The business, which began early this year, has seen the entrepreneur grow by leaps and bounds, inspiring women and causing copy cat Kinyozis across Nairobi.
” Being a female barber with an all – female staff isn’t easy. It takes guts to shake up the market and be very ruthless in marketing. That’s what we are known for – an idea-oriented business,” and she says.
Mwende’s offer comes as the month comes to a close and seeks to dive into the bank accounts of many men who will be undoubtedly receiving their salaries this week.
