The relationship between United States President Donald Trump and the late financier Jeffrey Epstein is under renewed scrutiny following the release of more than 20,000 pages of documents by the House Oversight Committee.
The material published by the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday includes email exchanges, internal correspondence, and historical legal filings, several of which directly reference Trump. Among the documents are multiple emails between Epstein and associates that refer to the U.S. leader.
Epstein–Maxwell, 2011
In an April 2011 email to Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein wrote: “I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is Trump.. [Victim] spent hours at my house with him; he has never once been mentioned.”
Committee documents show the unredacted name as Virginia Giuffre, who said in a 2016 deposition and in her memoir that Trump “was not involved in any wrongdoing” and “couldn’t have been friendlier” during their limited interactions. Maxwell replied: “I have been thinking about that…”
Epstein–Wolff, 2015–2019
In a 2015 exchange with author Michael Wolff, Epstein asked how Trump should answer questions from CNN about their relationship. Wolff responded: “I think you should let him hang himself… You can hang him… or… save him, generating a debt.”
On his part, Wolff in October 2016 wrote, “There’s an opportunity to come forward this week and talk about Trump in such a way that could garner you great sympathy and help finish him. Interested?”
In a 2019 email, Epstein told Wolff: “Of course, he knew about the girls as he asked Ghislaine to stop.”
Epstein–Reporter, 2015
New York Times reporter Landon Thomas Jr. told Epstein that people were inquiring about him and Trump. Epstein responded: “have them ask my houseman about donad almost walking through the door leaving his nose print on the glass as young women were swimming in the pool.”
What the legal files show
Separate from the emails, the newly released court materials include a declaration explaining why Trump was noticed for a deposition during the early civil cases against Epstein.
The filing states that Trump was noticed because investigators saw that message pads seized from Epstein’s home showed Trump called Epstein’s West Palm Beach mansion “on several occasions.”
Trump was quoted in Vanity Fair saying, “I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy… It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

In addition, a source claimed Trump banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago “because Epstein sexually assaulted an underage girl at the club.”
The legal files also show that Jane Doe 102 alleged she was initially approached at Mar-a-Lago by Maxwell. Mark Epstein testified that Trump flew on Jeffrey Epstein’s plane, Trump visited Epstein’s Palm Beach home, and Epstein’s computer directory contained “14 phone numbers for Donald Trump.”
However, the filing does not accuse Trump of criminal conduct but states he “might have relevant information.”
Epstein’s other comments about Trump
The documents also include several critical remarks Epstein made about Trump. Epstein wrote to Wolff in 2019 that Trump “said he asked me to resign, never a member ever.”
In another message, he said: “You see, I know how dirty Donald is.” Also in a 2018 exchange, Epstein said: “I am the one able to take him down.”
In an email to Wolff in 2019, Epstein referenced a woman who “worked at Mara Lago,” adding, “Trump knew of it, and came to my house many times during that period. The testimony of the houseman John Alessi confirmed it. He never got a massage.”

Other documents include Epstein criticizing Trump’s real-estate finances, writing, “His biz model is putting his name on a real estate development and gets a fee… He touts the project as ‘his’… the doral golf club loses money every year… AMAZING.”
In 2017, Epstein also wrote: “your world does not understand how dumb he really is. he will blame everyone around him for bad results.”
Mark Epstein asked Jeffrey Epstein in 2018, “what is your boy Donald up to now?” with the latter replying that he was “with Bannon now,” and responded jokingly to a reference to Get Hard: “You mean Donni T.”
Reactions
Emails released by the Committee include Epstein referring to Trump, Bill Clinton, and others. They also include a claim from Epstein that Clinton had “never” visited his private island, contradicting Trump’s past public statements.
Following the release, Democratic lawmakers highlighted the references to Trump, with emails indicating Epstein believed the U.S. President “knew about the girls,” though Epstein did not accuse Trump of committing abuse.
Trump dismissed the material outright, warning members of the Republican Party on Truth Social against focusing attention on the Democrats’ emails.
“The democrats are doing everything in their withering power to push the Epstein hoax again, despite the DOJ releasing 50,000 pages of documents, in order to deflect from all of their bad policies and losses, especially the shutdown embarrassment, where their party is in total disarray, and has no idea what to do,” he said.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, on her part, also told journalists at the White House on Wednesday that “these emails prove absolutely nothing other than the fact that President Trump did nothing wrong”.
Both Trump and former President Bill Clinton have long denied any wrongdoing and have never been charged with crimes related to Epstein.
