Justice Mohammed Khadhar Ibrahim is a Kenyan judge serving on the Supreme Court.
He is widely known for his strong commitment to social justice and securing the rights of minor groups.

Career background
Judge Mohammed Ibrahim became the first member of the Kenyan Somali community to be admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya on 11th January 1983.
He practiced law at Messrs Waruhiu & Muite Advocates, where he was admitted as a partner in 1985.
In July 1990, because of his opposition to aspects of the one-party regime, he was detained without trial during the Moi regime and spent one month in solitary confinement in Kamiti Prison for giving legal advice and supporting pro-democracy champions.
Later in 1994, Mohammed established Mohammed Ibrahim & Associates, which subsequently expanded to become Ibrahim & Isaack Advocates in 1997.

Despite being a founding trustee of the human rights organization, Mwangaza Trust, until 1994, he also served as a council member of the Law Society of Kenya and a board member of a non-governmental organization, Legal Education and Aid Programme (LEAD).
Between May 2003 and May 2011, Ibrahim served as a Judge of the High Court of Kenya, and in June 2011, he was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of Kenya, a position he holds to date.
Justice Mohammed Khadhar Ibrahim was appointed as a member of the Commission on June 2, 2022, pursuant to Article 171 (2) (b) of the Constitution.
