Former U.S Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has raised concerns over President Donald Trump’s approach to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, saying that Donald Trump is causing a global backlash against ‘American values’ during the ongoing Doha Forum in Qatar.
Hillary Clinton used her platform at the Doha Forum 2025 to question President Donald Trump’s approach to global conflicts, particularly the Russia-Ukraine war, questioning him on whether the policies align with core American values.
Clinton Questions Trump’s Approach to Russia-Ukraine Conflict
Speaking at the international summit in Qatar on 7th December 2025, Hillary Clinton has criticized President Trump’s inconsistent response to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine.
Clinton expressed concerns over the current administration’s handling of the Ukraine war.
“Supporting Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, even in a limited way, while only occasionally criticizing Putin for the brutal war he has waged on the Ukrainian people and attempting to coerce Ukraine into accepting a negotiated ceasefire or peace deal that would, by any objective measure, leave them vulnerable to further Russian activity—this is concerning. Remember, Russia has been in Ukraine since 2014, so this didn’t start in 2022.
I think there is a lot that needs to be reviewed from the perspective of long-term consequences. Very often, it is difficult to wrap your arms around what the objective is if the approach is simply to cause disruption and hope it leads to a better outcome. I’ve seen a lot of disruption,” said Hillary Clinton.
Ukrainian Security Official Denies Agreeing to Trump’s Peace Plan
Earlier in November, Rustem Umerov, Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council and former Defence Minister, refuted claims on November 21 that he had agreed to the terms of a proposed peace plan.
US officials had stated that the plan was developed after consultations with Umerov, a close ally of President Zelenskyy.
But Umerov clarified that he had neither discussed nor approved the plan’s terms.
Additionally, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia has not yet been informed of Zelensky’s agreement to negotiate based on the US plan.
The US presented Kyiv with a 28-point plan that supported several of Russia’s key demands, including territorial concessions from Ukraine, a reduction in its military size, and the permanent abandonment of any aspirations to join NATO.
The framework would involve Kyiv making significant concessions, including giving up certain territories and limiting its military capabilities.
According to Axios, the plan contains 28 points and would see Ukraine withdrawing forces from the Donetsk region, effectively ceding control of the Donbas to Russia.
The Donetsk region would become a demilitarized zone, with Russia also barred from deploying troops.
Under the proposal, the United States and its allies would recognize Crimea and the Donbas as Russian territory, but Ukraine would not be obliged to do the same.
