Isiolo South Member of Parliament (MP), Mohamed Tubi Bidu, has passed away. His family confirmed that he died while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.
The lawmaker, who was serving his first term in the 13th Parliament, was elected in August 2022 under the Jubilee Party.
Until the time of his demise, he sat in the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining, as well as the Public Petitions Committee.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, in a notification to MPs on Wednesday November 12, evening, while announcing Tubi’s death, described the late legislator as a dedicated public servant who made a positive impact on the nation. The Speaker called on MPs and Kenyans to remember him for his remarkable service.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, constituents, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him,” Speaker Wetang’ula said.
Mohamed Tubi mourned
In a statement, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi mourned Tubi as a devoted public servant who worked selflessly for his constituents.
“Deeply saddened by the passing of Hon. Mohamed Tubi, Member of Parliament for Isiolo South. A dedicated leader who served his people with humility and commitment. May Allah grant him eternal peace and comfort his family during this difficult time,” MP Amisi said.

On his part, Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo also expressed grief over the MP’s death, describing him as a principled and courageous leader who made a lasting impact on Isiolo’s development.
Guyo noted that the late legislator had served with distinction as the first Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly, adding that he helped lay a strong foundation for the county’s devolved governance system.
“He was a principled and courageous leader, steadfast in his convictions and always guided by a deep desire to uplift the lives of his constituents and foster unity across our county,” Governor Guyo said, adding that his death is “a profound loss not only to Isiolo South but to the entire Isiolo community and the nation at large.”
“My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the people of Isiolo South during this difficult time.”
Ministry of Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale also mourned the loss of Tubi following a long illness noting that he “was a respected elder and a dedicated leader who served his constituents with commitment and humility since his election in 2022.”
Career
Born and raised in Isiolo, Mohamed Tubi had a long career in wildlife management and public service before joining national politics.

His work spanned various counties, including Isiolo, Narok, and Samburu, where he served as Chief Game Warden between 2004 and 2013.
He later became the first Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly from 2013 to 2017, before successfully contesting the Isiolo South parliamentary seat in 2022.
Tubi held a Diploma in Wildlife Management from the College of African Wildlife Management in Moshi, Tanzania, and a Bachelor’s degree in Community Development from Gretsa University.
His legislative focus in Parliament included wildlife conservation, environmental management, and infrastructure development.
