The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has identified areas likely to experience rainfall as mid-December approaches. In its latest forecast published on Monday, December 8, 2025, Kenya Met released a seven-day weather outlook highlighting regions expected to receive rainfall during this period.
According to the weatherman, while most parts of the country are expected to remain sunny and dry, rainfall is forecasted in a few areas, including the Highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley itself, the Coast, the North-eastern region, and the South-eastern lowlands.
Daytime (maximum) temperatures exceeding 30°C are expected in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya, as well as in parts of the South-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley, and the Highlands west of the Rift Valley.
Kenya Met Publishes 7 Day Weather forecast
In the regions of the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, Kenya Met predicts mainly sunny intervals during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night.
However, there is a chance of afternoon and evening showers occurring in a few places. Areas within these regions include the counties of Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, and Narok.

In the northwestern Kenya region, which includes Turkana and Samburu counties, sunny intervals are expected during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night.
Weather Forecast for Nairobi and its Environs
The Highlands east of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi and its surroundings, are expected to have cloudy mornings, with a possibility of light rains in a few places, giving way to sunny intervals. Occasional afternoon and evening showers are also likely in some areas.
Other areas within this region include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi.
Elsewhere in northeastern Kenya, including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, is forecast to have sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy conditions at night. There is also a possibility of morning rains and afternoon showers in a few places.
Southeastern Lowlands
The southeastern lowlands, comprising Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County, are expected to have sunny intervals during the day with partly cloudy conditions at night.
Occasional morning, afternoon, and evening showers are likely in some areas. The Coast region, which includes Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and the coastal parts of Tana River County, is forecast to experience sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy conditions at night.
