The family of Daisy Nyakeru Waweru from Ngong in Kajiado County is demanding answers from the police after she died under mysterious circumstances on July 31, 2024. The twenty-four-year-old is reported to have fallen to her death from the fourth floor of a building in Ngong Town.
However, the family believes she was murdered. Despite police reports stating that Daisy jumped, the family insists she was pushed by an unknown person.
Among the four suspects arrested and questioned by the police in connection with her death was a military officer. The officer, stationed at the Langata Barracks, was later released under unclear circumstances.
“I received a call, and when I arrived, I found the body. The police came, took the body, and arrested the suspects, including the military officer,” the caretaker, Frank Okore, stated.
Mother Demands Justice
Daisy was laid to rest on Friday, August 9, at the Langata Cemetery, as the family continues to seek justice.
Her mother, Susan Njeri, demanded justice for her daughter, stating that the suspects are free and continuing with their lives. Njeri urged the authorities to come clean and tell the truth, insisting that Daisy was pushed from the building.
“The only thing I want is for justice to be served. My child has no peace where she is; she hears us and sees us. There are those who are free right now—they are not here, but wherever they are, they might be enjoying themselves. All I want is justice for my child. They should tell the truth and stop saying Daisy jumped because they threw her,” she said.
Daisy’s mother recalled how she left home heading for an interview at a mall in Karen. Throughout the day, Daisy kept in touch.
“There was nothing bothering her; she never mentioned that she might commit suicide. We have been with her the whole time, along with her brother. She wasn’t sick or even stressed. She left here looking so happy,” she said.

Questions Around Ngong Death
The family is now raising serious concerns about the investigation, questioning how the four suspects were released so quickly.
They also allege that their statements were not taken by the authorities, who instead told them to focus on burial preparations and to record their statements later.
“They didn’t even take the CCTV footage or their phones to establish whether there was a conversation between Daisy and the four suspects. There is something they are hiding—either the suspects, or there is something going on that I am not aware of,” Njeri said.

The autopsy report indicates that Daisy died from multiple injuries to the head, chest, and abdomen consistent with blunt force trauma from a fall.
Specimens, including urine samples, vaginal swabs, and blood, were collected for further analysis, but the findings have yet to be communicated to the family.
