The Nairobi City County government has instructed all Level 4 and 5 hospitals, as well as officers in charge of county health facilities, to open new bank accounts with Sidian Bank, following a resolution by the County Executive Committee.
According to a correspondence dated November 5 and seen by The Kenya Times, the decision was made during the 69th County Executive Committee meeting held on October 28, 2025, which designated Sidian Bank as the county’s principal banker.
“In its 69th Meeting held on 28th October 2025, the Nairobi City County Executive Committee resolved to designate Sidian Bank as its Principal Banker,” read part of the letter sent to hospital heads.
“This correspondence hereby serves to communicate the resolution of the County Executive Committee to request that you complete the attached forms to facilitate the opening of your respective accounts.”
Nairobi County Directs Hospitals to Switch Bank Accounts to Sidian Bank
Hospitals and health facility managers were requested to complete the provided forms, attach all required documents, and submit them to the Office of the County Executive Committee Member for Finance and Economic Planning by Friday, November 7, 2025.
The county government noted that prompt compliance with the directive will be highly appreciated to ensure a smooth transition to the new banking arrangements.
“Kindly attach all the required documents and submit the completed forms to the office of the County Executive Committee Member Finance and Economic Planning by Friday, 7th November 2025,” read part of the notice.
According to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, the county’s health facilities previously maintained their accounts with Cooperative Bank.

Nairobi County Updates Revenue Collection Bank Accounts
In August 2024, Nairobi County Governor Johnson Sakaja announced a transition to new revenue collection bank accounts for the Nairobi City County Government.
The county government stated that it will move away from the previous KRA-designated accounts at Cooperative Bank and Equity Bank.
“This is to notify all our esteemed residents that from 1st August 2024, the County will fully transition from the previous KRA-denoted revenue collection accounts: Cooperative Bank Account number 01141709410000 and Equity Bank Account number 1770279910476 to the following accounts,” the notice read in part.
“Account Name: Nairobi City County Revenue Collection Account, Account Number: 01141232396600, Bank: Co-operative Bank, Branch: City Hall
Account Name: Nairobi City County Revenue Collection Account, Account Number: 1600284509139, Bank: Equity Bank (Kenya) Ltd, Branch: Kenyatta Avenue Supreme Centre.”

The notice also highlighted the county’s no-cash policy in revenue collection and advised residents to make payments through the new accounts upon obtaining their invoices.
Residents were instructed to make payments via Paybill Number 6060047 (using their invoice number), USSD code *647#, or the NairobiPay eServices Portal at www.nairobiservices.go.ke.
Customers were also advised to visit the Nairobi Pay Customer Service Portal (www.nairobiservices.go.ke), City Hall Customer Care office, or any Sub-County Finance office for further clarification.
