State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed has refuted claims made by Lawyer and Civic Educator Morara Kebaso that President William Ruto reached out to him.
Morara alleged that President Ruto offered him a position within his government in an attempt to silence his criticisms regarding the unfulfilled projects and broken promises across the country.
While speaking on Citizen TV, Kebaso said that Ruto called him personally, but he declined his offer because he did not want to become part of a corrupt system.
“I received calls from those close to the President, and eventually, the President himself reached out to me.”
“However, I declined the offer because I believe that there are enough people in government, and frankly, I wouldn’t want to be part of the corruption that seems pervasive there,” said Morara.

Hussein Mohammed Responds to Morara
In response, the state house spokesperson called in live saying that the allegations were untrue and shocking.
Further, he said that he did not like having to respond to such comments because there was no way the president would have made that phone call.
“I am shocked at what the gentleman Morara is saying. I wonder why he would lie on national TV that the President called him. It is ridiculous that I have to respond to this but let me do it.
“For the record, such a call never happened, it’s a statement of his imagination,” said Hussein.
At the same time, he lashed out at Journalist Jeff Koinange for allowing Morara to make such claims and supporting them.
According to him, Jeff should have demanded for substantial evidence from Morara before giving him the platform to speak of such matters.
“What is more shocking Jeff is that you can allow him to make such a claim on national TV without demanding any proof or substantiation.
“All you should have said at the very least is that those are his words, and alleged claim from him. It’s just unbelievable,” added Hussein.

What Next for Morara
Earlier on August 19, the Lawyer announced that he was closing down his business to fully focus on governance.
Additionally, he said that he had plans to establish a governance office with the needed equipment and staff to focus on civic education and the fight against corruption.
“I now intend to go into governance and take the role of calling for good governance and to abandon my business because I think I am done with making money. Not that it is enough, but I need a new sense of purpose and direction. I think I have found my purpose on this earth,” Morara said.
Morara explained that the office will conduct research on government projects and visit all of them to keep the people informed of their progress.
