The Nation Media Group (NMG) has announced changes to its board. NMG Company Secretary Angela Namwakira on behalf of the Board of Directors in a notice on Friday, November 1, 2024, announced the appointment of Joe Muganda as an Independent Non-Executive Director.
Muganda is an accomplished business leader with an illustrious career and vast experience gathered from over three decades of service in several multinational corporations across Africa and the UK.
“The Board of Directors of Nation Media Group PLC Is pleased to announce the appointment of Joe Muganda as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective November 1, 2024.,” the notice reads.
“The Board congratulates Muganda on his appointment and wishes him success in this role.”
The new NMG Non-Executive Director’s previous roles include top leadership (Chief Executive Officer) positions at VIVO Energy Kenya (Shell Licensee), Kenya Breweries Limited and British American Tobacco, all market leaders in their respective sectors.

New Nation Media Group Non-Executive Director
Muganda also served in the position of Group Chief Executive Officer at Nation Media Group between 2015 and 2018.
He holds an MBA from the University of Leicester and a B.Sc. in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Buckingham.
The former NMG boss currently chairs the Board of Stanbic Bank Kenya in addition to serving on several other boards.
The appointment comes a month after NMG announced leadership changes following the exit of one of the directors.
Nation Media in a statement on Tuesday, October 1, announced the retirement of Leonard Mususa as Director of the company.

Mususa who joined the board in 2015 had served as a member and later Chairman of the audit, Risk and Compliance Committee.
The notice further explained that Mususa would be moving to serve as chairman of the Board of Mwananchi Communications Limited in Tanzania.
At the same time, the media group announced the appointment of David Nchimbi as an independent Non-Executive Director effective October 1, 2024.
Prior to his appointment, Nchimbi served the role of Managing Director of Pemandu Associates Limited, a multidisciplinary consulting firm.

He worked at Deloitte for over 17 years, where he held various senior positions including being the managing partner Deloitte, Tanzania.
Also, Nchimbi was the leader of the firm’s Financial Services Industry practice across East Africa and has served as a member of the Deloitte Global Advisory Council between 2017 and 2019.
Other changes at NMG
Earlier in August, NMG’s interim Chief Executive Officer Richard Tobiko while announcing an Executive Management Appointment, said that the Group had appointed a new Head of Broadcast.
In a notice on August 2, 2024, the NMG Group interim CEO announced the appointment of former Royal Media Services (RMS) manager Simaloi Dajom, as the new Head of Broadcasting, effective August 12, 2024.
At the same time, Tobiko announced the appointment of Russel Akuom as Chief Information Officer (CIO) effective August 1, 2024.
