The Social Health Authority (SHA) has introduced a new prescription section in its official portal, https://afyayangu.go.ke, to help members track information about their medication, including dosage, frequency, refill dates, and special instructions.
In a statement on Saturday, November 29, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale announced that the addition will enable SHA users to manage their medication more easily.
“Managing your medication just got easier with Afya Yangu. Visit the home page, https://afyayangu.go.ke, to log in,” said the CS.
To access the Prescription section, users must first log in to the SHA portal via https://afyayangu.go.ke.
How to Access the Prescription Section in the SHA Portal
To sign in, choose the preferred identification method from the options, namely: Kenyan Citizen ID, Passport, Foreign Resident ID, Refugee ID, Mandate Number, or Temporary ID.
After selecting the ID type, enter your 4-digit PIN, then enter the OTP sent to your number.
Once logged in, the SHA portal displays six sections arranged vertically:

The ‘Prescriptions / Medications’ section allows users to view all their medications in one place, including dosage, frequency, refill dates, and special instructions.

Users can update or review their medication details at any time by signing in.
Beyond prescriptions, the SHA portal also enables users to:
- Schedule appointments to book visits, receive confirmations, and get reminders.
- Track health records that include hospitals visited, exact dates, and the last consultation date and time.
- Manage insurance coverage — add and monitor insurance benefits.
