Telecommunication giant Safaricom has revised its Home Fibre Fair Usage Policy (FUP), marking one of the most significant updates to the service in recent years.
The fair usage limit is a consumption cap assigned for each usage cycle, not a volume resource or bundle allocation.
Therefore, it is not possible to roll over or extend the validity of the fair usage limit beyond the package’s validity cycle.
The telco recently updated its official Home Fibre FAQs page to reflect new data limits and post-FUP speeds.
Safaricom Increases Home Fibre FUP Limit for All Plans to 15TB
According to newly published details, all Safaricom Home Fibre packages will now have a uniform FUP limit of 15 terabytes(TB).
Once a user reaches this new threshold, the “post-FUP” or throttled speed increases to 100 megabits per second (Mbps).
Previously, Safaricom Home Fibre customers faced much lower data thresholds, ranging from 500GB for the Bronze plan to 1TB for the Silver, Gold, and Diamond plans, before their speeds were throttled.

Once the limit was reached, users experienced significant slowdowns, with post-FUP speeds dropping to as low as 1Mbps on the Bronze plan.
However, under the new structure, the Bronze package will offer speeds of 15 Mbps at Ksh 2,999 per month, with speeds reduced to 2 Mbps after reaching the 15 TB limit.
The Silver package, priced at Ksh 4,100, offers 30Mbps, with a post-FUP speed of 4Mbps.
The Gold package offers 80Mbps for Ksh 6,299, with speeds reduced to 8Mbps after the threshold is reached.
Customers on higher-tier plans will also see changes. The Diamond package now offers 500Mbps for Ksh 12,499, with speeds capped at 50Mbps once the limit is reached.
The top-tier Platinum plan offers 1 Gbps for Ksh 20,000, with a throttled speed of 100 Mbps after exceeding the 15 TB cap.
