Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has disclosed that Ukrainian intelligence has obtained information on Russia’s intention to further exploit Belarusian territory for military operations.
In a statement on October 15, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that after receiving a briefing from Oleh Ivashchenko, Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Ukrainian intelligence had identified new stages of Russian military activity in Belarus.
He noted that while specific details remain classified, the findings indicate further exploitation of Belarusian territory for military purposes.
“Oleh Ivashchenko also reported on Russia’s plan for further military exploitation of Belarusian territory,” Zelenskyy said.
“At this stage, we will not make this information public. We will notify partners who could be affected.”
The revelation comes as Kyiv intensifies efforts to strengthen international coordination on sanctions and military containment against Moscow.
Zelenskyy Reveals Russia’s Plan to Expand Military Presence
Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine and its intelligence partners are working to disrupt the supply of critical components and equipment reaching Russia’s weapons industry.
“Global sanctions are truly constraining Russia’s ability to continue and expand this war,” Zelenskyy said. “Putin’s system will not withstand the confrontation he has led Russia into.”
The intelligence briefing precedes Zelenskyy’s upcoming visit to Washington and planned meetings with European leaders, where discussions are expected to focus on tightening sanctions enforcement and cutting off Russia’s access to key military supplies.

According to Zelenskyy, both classified and open-source data confirm that Western sanctions are severely weakening Russia’s industrial capacity, finances, and regional budgets.
“On the eve of my visit to Washington and ahead of contacts with European leaders, we discussed the main sources of supply of critical components and equipment to Russia for weapons production,” read part of the statement.
“We in Ukraine clearly understand which supplies matter most to Moscow, and every such scheme must be cut off. Our partners have all the means necessary to do this.”
The Ukrainian President urged allied nations to maintain unified pressure, noting that every disruption in Moscow’s supply chains brings Ukraine closer to securing lasting security and peace.

Discussions on Russia’s Military Presence in Syria
Earlier, the Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa are set to hold talks in Moscow to discuss the situation surrounding Russia’s military bases in Syria.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the discussions between President Putin and President Sharaa are expected to cover the status of Russia’s military bases in Syria.
“It’s obvious that this will be touched upon one way or another during the conversation. Yes, this can be expected,” Peskov said.
According to the statement from the Kremlin, the discussions will focus on the current state and future of bilateral relations — particularly trade and economic cooperation — as well as recent developments in the Middle East.
President Sharaa arrived in Moscow, marking his first official visit to Russia since assuming office in December 2024.
Russia maintains two major military installations in Syria: a naval base in Tartus and an air base at Hmeimim, both located along the Mediterranean coast.
