A grisly road accident at Kosachei area near Turbo along the Eldoret-Webuye highway has reportedly claimed the lives of six people.
The road carnage involving a matatu and trailer occurred on Sunday, July 3 early morning. The 14-seater matatu of Trippin Sacco, carrying an unknown number of passengers headed towards Webuye rammed into a tipper that had unexpectedly stopped.
A while later, a different matatu of NNUS Sacco which was headed towards Eldoret stopped to rescue the victims of the accident. Unfortunately, during the evacuation process, a trailer heading to Webuye rammed onto the NNUS Sacco matatu before overturning.

Moreover, many other passengers have been injured in the incident.
Victims of the gruesome accident have been rushed to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment as efforts are made to clear the vehicles involved off the road.
Furthermore, recent reports by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), states that a total of 1,968 fatalities had been recorded from January 2022 to June 2022- noting a 9.3 percent increase as opposed to the same period the previous year.
In Addition, out of the 1,968 deaths, 622 were pedestrians, 545 were motorcyclists, 322 werew passengers, and 192 pillion passengers.
At the same time Police spokesperson Bruno Shioso urged road users to adhere to traffic laws to avoid more fatalities.
