Authorities in Hong Kong have taken into custody a 35-year-old woman from Kenya on suspicion of smuggling one kilogram of a narcotic substance into the city of Hong Kong. The substance is thought to be cocaine.
According to Hong Kong police, the secreted cocaine was contained in 67 pellets and has an estimated street value of HK$900,000 (about Ksh.15.4 million). She reportedly ingested the pellets.

The woman, who authorities said to have been acting in a suspicious manner, was detained on April 9 at the Hong Kong International Airport, as she landed in the Chinese city from Nairobi through Addis Ababa.
Customs Take Woman into Custody
The Kenya Times has learnt that the woman excreted the purported narcotics while she was waiting to be examined. She was taken into custody right after that, before transferred her to a nearby medical facility
On April 11, she was presented with a charge of one count of trafficking a hazardous substance into Hong Kong before the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts.
The Hong Kong Customs department has stated that the highest penalty for a conviction is a fine of HK$5 million (about Ksh.85 million) and life in prison.
