A man has been shot and seriously injured in the Equity Bank, Nairobi West Branch.
The attacker who stabbed two guards and a customer was shot by the police guarding the bank.
The motive for the stabbings is yet to be known as investigations have been launched.
According to the police report, the attacker was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Langata police boss Monica Kimani said preliminary findings show he wanted money from the bank.
“He says he wanted money from the bank. We don’t know if he was alone for now,” Monica said.
Monica added that the assailant had reached the manager’s office and threatened her while demanding money after which he stabbed two guards who tried to stop him and further hit a customer.
CCTV footage is being reviewed to establish whether the assailant was working alone or in a group.
The Police suspect the attacker was targeting some money that was being delivered by G4S personnel at the bank on Ghandi Avenue.
The police have advised victims in future to cooperate with attacker for their own safety, as the force works towards stopping such cases.
