A former policeman killed 34 people including 22 children in a gun rampage at a daycare center in eastern Thailand on Thursday October 6.
The said gunman was a former member of the force, who had been dismissed from his duties after facing drug charges.
The gunman had been in trial for hours before he went to the daycare center to find his child, but the child was not there, then the shooting occurred.
Police spokesperson Paisan Luesomboon in his statement said the gunman left the daycare, went to his home, shot his wife and kid, and later turned the gun on himself.
“He was already stressed and when he couldn’t find his child, he was more stressed and started shooting, then drove home and killed his wife and child there before taking his own life.” Said Paisan.
District police official Chakkraphat Wichitvaidya cited witnesses as saying the gunman was also seen wielding a knife in the attack in the town of Uthai Sawan, 500 kilometers (310 miles) northeast of Bangkok in the province of Nong Bua Lamphu.
Jidapa Boonsom, a district official who was working in a nearby office narrated the ordeal.
“The shooter came in around lunch time and shot four or five officials, among them was a teacher who was eight months pregnant, at the childcare Centre first,” said Jidapa.
