The United Democratic Alliance has taken the lion’s share of the newly gazetted MCAs to the Murang’a County Assembly.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission gazetted the 12 members bringing the total number of members in the assembly to 47. The other members were elected during the August general Elections.
The United Democratic Alliance got 11 out of the twelve nominated seats with one seat going to the Amani National Congress Party.
Women also got the majority share of the slots, taking ten seats while two went to men.
The current Murang’a County Governor Irungu Kang’ata requested the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to speed up the gazettement process as it was delaying the Assembly opening.
“There is a lot of work we need to do but we have to get the approval from the assembly and the earlier we have the assembly running the better,” Irungu said.
